New Pastor Elected in Superior
Superior Assembly of God elected Reverend Kenneth A. Claflin as their new pastor during a business meeting on Sunday, October 1, 2006.
Pastor Kenneth Claflin is an ordained Assemblies of God minister and comes to Superior Assembly of God from Plains, Montana, where he works as a computer programmer. Before moving to Plains in 2005, Reverend Claflin served as pastor in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, for almost 8 years. While pastoring there, he served as volunteer firefighter. He has received Fire Fighter 1 and medical First Responder certifications. He also served as the department chaplain. His wife Melanie led Wyldlife, an interdenominational youth ministry for 6th through 8th graders. Wyldlife is a national program and is the younger counterpart to Young Life which has active programs in Missoula, Montana. Prior to that, the Claflins served as youth pastors in Worcester, Massachusetts. Reverend Claflin's first pastorate was in Marlboro, Massachusetts, prior to that. Both he and his wife Melanie received Bachelor of Arts degrees from Central Bible College, Springfield, Missouri. Pastor Ken majored in Bible and Pastoral Ministries while Melanie majored in Bible and Missions. Pastor Claflin and his wife Melanie have three boys: Thaddeus 15, Matthias 13 and Marcus 10.
One church member said that "Superior Assembly of God Church is made up of people with a wide variety of Church backgrounds, and experiences, and varying ages, all joined together because of their love for the Lord." Klaude Kendrick, who served as president of three different Assemblies of God institutions of higher education, passed away Saturday. He was 93.
